the SUPER: Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Is Now Playing In Theaters

Anthony Mackie returns as the high-flying hero Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World. After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Directed by Julius Onah, the film stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roguemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson and Harrison Ford.

Speaking with Empire Magazine, Onah revealed the films that inspired the crafting of this story. “I don’t want to be that guy who says, ‘I was inspired by this thing’, and then you watch the movie, and you’re like, ‘What the f*** were you talking about?’ We looked at a number of different films. We had a conversation about The Day Of The Jackal, and the Pakula trilogy of Klute, All The President’s Men and The Parallax View. These are all movies about people on the move, trying to stay one step ahead of an investigation or an adversary.”

Attending the premiere, Onah talked to Marvel about the impact of getting to introduce Sam Wilson as the next iteration of Captain America.

The film is expected to make advancements for the MCU, particularly with Sam developing the tools to soon lead (or co-lead) a new team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).

Captain America: Brave New World is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, and some strong language.
