We’re approaching the one year anniversary of X-Men ’97 next month on March 20, and fans are anxiously awaiting season two news for Marvel Animation’s hit revival series. Thanks to Collider, we now have a better idea when it’ll drop. Speaking with Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, its been revealed we’ll see the follow-up season next year.
“Season 2 of X-Men ‘97 is going to be in ‘26,” he said. “We’re working on it now. It’s exciting. That world of the ‘90s is just… Honestly, Steve, I can’t believe they let me make it. I grew up at Marvel, as you know, clocked a lot of time here, and I feel like I used a lot of currency to revive this thing that I loved watching after school. So, the fact that we get to play in that universe with those actors is honestly why I went into this business in the first place.”
That’s a great quote!
Showrunner Beau DeMayo’s original plans for the neXt entry have been rumored to have undergone some changes with new writer Matthew Chauncey taking over for S2 going into S3. How extreme are these changes remains to be seen.
