We’re all celebrating that Rebecca Romijn is officially back in blue! During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen, Romijn made mention of her return as Mystique in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Avengers: Doomsday.
“It feels great, very surreal,” Romijn said when asked about reprising her iconic role. “We’re currently in production; been doing it already, back and forth between Star Trek and Doomsday. So yeah, it’s been a very eventful summer.”
Romijn, who’s currently starring in Star Trek:Strange New Worlds, originally portrayed Mystique in the early 2000s X-Men trilogy, quickly becoming a fan favorite for her fierce, shape-shifting performance. While she later passed the torch to Jennifer Lawrence in the rebooted timeline, her return signals exciting new crossovers in the evolving Marvel multiverse.
With production underway and Romijn juggling multiple franchises, it looks like Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a major cinematic event when it arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026. Mystique is back, and she means business!
