X-MEN: FIRST CLASS actor Jason Flemyng, who played Azazel in the movie, was asked if a sequel to the Matthew Vaughn-directed film was in the works. The actor tells Empire Magazine and fans on Twitter that the film has met 20th Century Fox’s expectations at the box office:
“I’d love to do a sequel.” he said. “We shot enough fight sequences to do an Azazel fight movie. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. The [first] film had to take $350 million worldwide to merit a sequel. It took $356 million, so watch this space.”
Last we heard, the sequel was in internal discussions at Fox. Producers are currently focused on THE WOLVERINE and possibly DEADPOOL, though it’s only a matter of time before a sequel is greenlit.
What’s the problem developing two X films at the same time. Marvel is doing just that with its cinematic universe.
THE WOLVERINE will do doubt be very different from the previous films, and it has a whole different team behind the camera than FIRST CLASS had.
Just greenlight the sequel already Fox! FIRST CLASS had great reviews and a second part could follow the DARK KNIGHT example and exceed it’s predecessor. Just do not mess with the creative team!
I rather to see XFC 2 than Deadpool movie..
X-men is not Dark Knight, and I hope it never will be.
Dark Knight was a waste of space.
But I’m sure George W. Bush loved it.
I certainly hope X-Men First Class 2 won’t be The Dark Knight. I hope Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn will be back too because I don’t want X-Men : First Class 2 ending like the awful and soulless X-Men The Last Stand.
Hopefully they can get the entire team back. I don’t want anything to change tbh.
I really enjoyed Dark Knight but that film is different from what an X-Men film should be, imo.
I ment the success pattern… First part – soso, second part a great hit.
