Marvel Television is expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a fresh and unexpected direction with Wonder Man, an all-new live-action series. Wonder Man will launch next month with all episodes available to stream on day one, giving viewers the chance to experience the full story in a single binge. The series represents another step in Marvel’s evolving television strategy.

At the center of the series is Simon Williams, portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, a struggling actor navigating the highs and lows of Hollywood. While Simon dreams of success and recognition, his life takes a sharp turn as his personal ambitions collide with the larger-than-life world of superheroes. Rather than focusing solely on cosmic threats or city-level destruction, Wonder Man leans into a more personal journey, exploring what it means to be seen, both on screen and in real life.

Adding to the show’s unique tone is the return of Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, one of the MCU’s most unconventional and comedic characters. Trevor’s presence reinforces the series’ satirical edge, offering a self-aware look at acting, fame, and reinvention within the Marvel Universe. Together, Simon and Trevor form an unlikely partnership, navigating the absurdities of the entertainment industry while brushing up against superhero legacy and myth.

The supporting cast includes Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, Simon’s brother, known in the comics as the Grim Reaper, along with a strong ensemble that helps ground the story in contemporary Los Angeles. The series balances humor and drama while gradually weaving in superhero elements, allowing Wonder Man to stand apart from more action-heavy MCU entries.

Creatively, Wonder Man is guided by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, alongside showrunner Andrew Guest. Their vision emphasizes a meta commentary on superhero storytelling itself. Episodes are expected to run shorter than traditional MCU series, reinforcing a fast-paced, comedy-forward structure.

As the MCU continues to grow, Wonder Man arrives as one of its most unconventional projects to date. With its upcoming release, the series is positioned to offer something different for longtime Marvel fans and newcomers alike when it debuts January 27, 2026 on Disney Plus.
