X-Men Films And Superhero Entertainment News — Trailers, Industry Coverage, Reviews, Original Comics: SUPER (2025-), Mutant Fandom And More

Speaking with the Power of X-Men Podcast, legendary X-Men comic book writer Chris Claremont seemingly let slip that Marvel Studios isn’t being entirely honest about the X-Men that are appearomg in Avengers: Doomsday.

🚨 Potential SPOILERS Ahead? 🚨

According to Claremont, Jean Grey actress Famke Janssen is returning to the role. This comes after multiple denials from the actress. “They’re bringing back the original cast, including Famke,” he said while reacting to the recent teaser trailer featuring the return of Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, and James Marsden as Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops, respectively.

This actually wouldn’t a new revelation from Claremont, as he mentioned the return of Janssen back in April 2025 during an appearance at the Huntsville Pop Culture Expo.

“It’s like, all the original X-Men are coming back,” he proclaimed. “For two weeks, we didn’t know if Famke Janssen would come back, but now, Famke Janssen is coming back, but she’s coming back as Phoenix! And apparently, Psylocke is coming back, but she’s no longer Asian. Still wearing the same outfit. And there’s a rumor that Wolverine’s going to kill somebody important.”

Does Claremont indeed have insider info given his status with Marvel? He sounds pretty confident, but this still should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed otherwise.

In addition to Janssen’s denial, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman also said they weren’t involved. But The Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield did similar for Spider-Man: No Way Home in memorable fashion. It feels incredibly weird that Janssen, Berry, Jackman, and Anna Paquin weren’t announced with the rest of their cast, so maybe it was done to throw fans off the scent. If so, Claremont just unleashed that info with no f***s to give!
