Speaking with BBC Radio 1Xtra, longtime X-Men actress Halle Berry once again addressed the possibility of returning as Storm in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, and once again, she said no.

“Yeah, I would love to but, you know…no,” Berry said. “I love Storm. I love Storm so much. I, like so many people, she’s a beloved character. And she’s one of my favorites, and I’m so proud of playing that character. So yeah, I would come back for sure.”

Still, between the laughter and her unmistakable affection for the character, we’re left wondering whether Berry is simply keeping things close to the vest when it comes to the Goddess of Weather’s future in the MCU.

Whether Berry is genuinely uninvolved or playfully dodging spoilers is anyone’s guess. What is clear, however, is that the door is far from closed. Berry has consistently expressed her love for Storm and her willingness to return under the right circumstances.

At this point, the ball is firmly in Marvel Studios’ court. Securing legacy X-Men actors like Halle Berry alongside names such as Famke Janssen and, hopefully, Anna Paquin will come down to offering meaningful roles and the kind of compensation that reflects their importance to the franchise.

With reshoots for Avengers: Doomsday reportedly taking place this Spring, there’s still a window for Berry to be added if she wasn’t involved initially. And even if Storm doesn’t appear there, Avengers: Secret Wars looms large as another opportunity to bring back one of Marvel’s most iconic mutants.

After all, when it comes to the multiverse, never say never.
