Rumors surrounding Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot continue to spread online, but director Jake Schreier says fans shouldn’t believe everything they read.

During an interview with Perri Nemiroff of Collider at the Gotham Television Awards, Schreier briefly addressed the status of casting for the highly anticipated Marvel project. While he confirmed that discussions are underway behind the scenes, he also pushed back on many of the reports circulating across social media and entertainment sites.

“We’re talking about things, we’re thinking about things,” Schreier said. “I can tell you most of the stuff that gets posted online, I don’t know where it comes from, because it doesn’t come from our room, and it isn’t what we’re discussing. But there is a process.”

The comments seem to suggest that Marvel Studios is still in the early stages of shaping the reboot, even as fans on social media continue speculating about which actors could join the next generation of mutants in the MCU. Over the past several months, countless rumored casting lists have appeared online, though Schreier’s statement makes it clear that many of them may not have any real connection to the production itself.

Marvel has remained largely secretive about the film, with official details still limited. However, anticipation remains extremely high as the studio prepares to fully introduce their X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
