DC Studios has released the official trailer for Clayface, giving a new look at the upcoming R-rated horror-thriller centered on one of Gotham’s most fascinating and tragic villains. Directed by James Watkins, the film stars Tom Rhys Harries, Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.
Matt Hagen’s meteoric rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man is tragically cut short when a local crime boss’s actions leave him horribly disfigured. Abandoned by his team and with nothing left, Matt seeks out a cutting edge treatment that miraculously returns him to his former self… but also unexpectedly affects his grip on reality, spiraling him down a destructive path of all-consuming revenge.
Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini wrote the screenplay, based on a story by Flanagan inspired by DC’s legendary characters. Producing the film are Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn, and Peter Safran, while Michael E. Uslan, Chantal Nong Vo, Lars P. Winther, Rafi Crohn, and Paul Ritchie serve as executive producers.
Behind the camera, the creative team features cinematographer Rob Hardy, production designer James Price, editor Jon Harris, and costume designer Keith Madden. The film’s score is composed by Academy Award winner Volker Bertelmann.
Clayface opens in theaters on October 23, 2026.
