Hey U Guys recently spoke with Marvel President Kevin Feige about THE AVENGERS and within the interview a question arose about who has the film rights to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, characters who have major ties to the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Avengers’ comics. Feige says Marvel and Fox both have certain rights to them in their contract.
“It’s a little complicated but if [Fox] wants to use [Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver] in an X-MEN movie they could. If we want to use them in an AVENGERS movie we could.” said Feige.
The same rule also applies to The Skrulls!

That’s great, but baring that in mind….. considering in the comics universe, Wolverine and Beast are pretty integral parts of both the X-men and Avengers teams, can’t the same rule apply?? Same goes for Spiderman.
I wanna see Wolverine and Spiderman in Avengers 2!! 😛
Pardon me to say this but it could be more exciting if we see Scarlet the Witch and Jubilee togheter and more exciting if those presindents changed the company for Expample X-men with mortal Kombat
Sub-cero with Ice-men
Scorpion with Pyro
Rayden with Storm
it could be super exciting if those ppl permited those characters togheter that i hope they will
well, i guess it wold be great if there is a crossover of x-men and avengers.. like a m-day and decimation story line..
I think it;s just one of those deals that Marvel/Disney, and 20th Century Fox made before annoucement came that Disney would be Marvel’s main parent company. The three agreed that for certain characters they could appear in both Avengers and X-Men Movies. Spider-Man is not so sure as Sony has the film rights to Spider-Man, and recent evidence suggests that Marvel/Disney and 20th Century Fox have a better working partnership/relationship going in so far as movie deals and contracts go. But if they ever agreed to have the X-Men, or Daredevil, or the Fantastic Four meet the Avengers in a future film or films, boy the Marvel Fans would love that. and the three studios could make a good movie or more out of them.
No Rob in that point where talking about sciense with drama for excemple FX or Syfy with Fox for X-men universe coz syfy comes with star trek the next generation the mummy star wars fringe lost girl X-men the triology movies and all of this mutants came with FX or SYFY trust me i,ve seen it on my vacations when i see my tv i,ve seen: FX, Syfy, HBO, and TNT cos X-men use drama even when you don’t believe it they use drama in X-men,spider-men batman superman and even hulk trust me i,ve seen it even when is Syfy or FX is drama even if those guys don’t excepted is always drama when is the movie of X-men:origins Wolverine there are drama too so there you go
Yes X-men and many other comic book characters involve Drama, and yes that’s a list of television channels, and okay apparently that’s something you’ve seen on your travels….
Yeah I think I can speak for all of us when I say ‘come again?’
Hell yeah!
that is absolutley right Comicbookdan is like you said that all the character are involved with the drama there,s no come again?? you heard right and very good about my post so you see the right post you didn’t see wrong you see right about my last post you are right on my last post so don’t worry its right
Yeah Rob, I’m aware Sony and Fox have the rights to Spidey and X-men and I’m sure you’re right in saying that all the companies decided which characters fall under each of their contracts.
You’d think with how big the hype behind Avengers movie is at the moment, that the only way to top it in the inevitible sequel would be to put some even bigger hitters in the movie. Marvels next biggest characters are Spidey and Wolverine by a mile and I think Disney/Marvel will be out on all accounts trying to reaquire the rights to them!!
I agree, and I’m pretty sure that Hugh Jackman, will love to work with the cast of Avengers.
if Jackman accepted the rule of the avenger what would that be for him what rule would that be for him what character coz he,s got the x-men first class 2 and wolverine the second film and the miserables so there so many of them for him so he,s completely full of job now, he need brake so i mean he need to rest for him self i mean he need a vacations for a little wild cos all of this is too much for Jackman believe me is too hard for him is like a Arnold Schwarsenager Stalone and Jean Claude vandam so give him a brake to Jackman he need a vacation for a little wild and then he,ll get back to you trutst me they need a little air for him selfs trust me they will staring with hugh Jackman believe me he need to rest poor guy he need to rest so give him some space please to this poor guy Hugh Jackman coz is like a Arnold Schwarseneger
Oh God, I hope they will not mesh them up…
I prefere the more down to the Earth style of the X films. Keep aliens, timetravel etc. out.
A shame IRON MAN has been spoiled by THE AVENGERS. I really liked the down to the Earth style of the previous two films… Aliens and comic book heroes: Do not mix.
Merely theorizing here, but…
If Disney/Marvel ever did plan on involving Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch in the Avengers…. does that not mean they’d have to acknowledge the existence of ‘Mutants’ within the ‘Avengers’ movie-universe??
Now I’m not sure what each companies respective contacts state, but you’d think that ‘Mutants’ (within the marvel world at least) is a term directly related to the X-men franchise, and therefore the movie-property of 20th Century Fox. Not to mention the history of the characters being significantly X-men based.
Either they’d have to have some sort of agreement (and epic story-plan) with Fox or the characters would have to be vastly differed from their comic counterparts….. and frankly if Quicksilver/ Scarlet Witch do appear in the Avengers, I’d rather they should be mutants and the children of Magneto… or just not in it at all!!
For those same reasons, I doubt Wolvie could ever appear in the Avengers as Hugh Jackman’s version. Being that the concept of mutants doesn’t yet exist in the Disney/Marvel movieverse, if they ever did reacquire the movie rights I’d expect they’d reboot the X-men films from scratch (albeit he could still be played by Hugh, but he just wouldn’t be playing the same Wolverine…. if that makes ANY sense :S).
Anyway, enough of my babble. But Cyber-X, just before I finish…. I must clarify, NOTHING of what I said is fact, I’m just sharing my thoughts. Don’t take it so seriously yeah??
If they both can use Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver…maybe those characters can help connect the X-Men and Avengers movies. They both use the characters and same actors. …Yeah?
it would be best if same actor and same character. Look what happen to Hulk, they keep changing the actor which confuse some of the non fan viewers.
And i’m with xavierstorma, i also not into alien and time travel stuff in x-men.
