Director James Mangold recently tweeted ten films that inspired and influenced the look, lighting and action of THE WOLVERINE. They include Chungking Express, Happy Together, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Samurai Trilogy, Floating Weeds, Black Narcissus, Shane, Chinatown, The French Connection and 13 Assassins.
Releasing July 26th, the sixth film in the ever-expanding “X-Men” film franchise finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

Awesome selection. This movie will be so different, so unique… I am certain!
I barely realized that the Wolverine photo of him with the rain has the Chinese letters spell out X-men.
I haven’t seen ANY of these films. Got lots of watching to do.
I have seen most. Very artistic about outlaws, lonely people, outsiders. Some of them are really emotional.
Sounds great!
btw Anthony… did you check out “3:10 to Yuma”?
Yes I did – excellent film! Definitely made me more excited for THE WOLVERINE.
COPLAND is another one everyone should go and watch. One of Mangold’s best film.
