Despite early rumors, it appears that James Marsden won’t return as Cyclops in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The actor recently confirmed the info to Vulture, saying “No, no X-Men, unfortunately. But who knows? If [DOFP] really works, Bryan [Singer] has said he wants to fix a few things, so hopefully that’s one of them.”

With the inclusion of “Jean Grey” in THE WOLVERINE, Marsden says he hopes her involvement lays the groundwork for the characters making a comeback. “We’ll see. I always liked Cyclops, but they have a lot of characters that they have to parcel out, spend time with each one, make sure everyone feels like they’ve been given their due, introduce them appropriately, but you could do a spin-off of every one of those characters and give them so much depth to the story line.”

Days of Future Past: Havok

In related news, Lucas Till, who plays Cyclops’ “unannounced” brother Havok, spoke with Coming Soon about his small role in the film, making sure to dodge any details.

“Basically, a war is taking place in one of the timelines,” said Till. “In the “First Class” cast’s timeline there’s a war during around the time of President Nixon you may be familiar with. That I may or may not be involved in. [Laughs.] That’s kind of my involvement there. It was fun to just show up and use my blasts and get to go back to my other movie. It was a nice vacation.”

The actor revealed that he doesn’t know all the major plot points in the film, because he hasn’t “even read the script,” due to production being so secretive. “I’ve been trying to piecemeal the story by talking to other cast members,” he said. “But they’re like, “Sh*t, I don’t know.” So you can’t even get the whole story yet. But I love that. Because I want to see it fresh, you know? So I like that I can’t figure it out.”
