X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST director Bryan Singer participated in a 60-minute Q&A during Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal yesterday. He revealed interesting details, providing insight into the making of the film, and offered fans a 2-minute peek at footage from the film (same clip featured at Comic Con).

Thanks to JoBlo and 24 Panels per Second we have details on what was discussed.

Singer revealed that Quicksilver (played by Evan Peters) will NOT be joined by his sister Scarlet Witch, and that the character’s role is fairly minor, seemingly to be used as more of a plot device. His role should not majorly conflict with that of the same character in Marvel’s upcoming “Avengers” sequel.

He confirmed that actor Josh Helman will indeed play young William Stryker, which makes this the 3rd actor portraying the character on film.

He calls DOFP “not the brightest ‘X-Men’ movie,” but says that it “has a good message, trying to right wrongs.” As expected, most of the film will take place in the “past” timeline, with future segments taking place 10 years after X3.

It looks like James Marsden’s Cyclops is still dead, as Singer said he “wishes he could bring him back” and that he “wasn’t thrilled” with the decision to kill him off in X3. He justified the return of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier by saying that [BEGIN SPOILERS] he has the ability to transfer his consciousness, possibly constructing a body around that consciousness [END SPOILERS].

Last but not least, filming has just a few weeks to go, with Singer filming a crucial scene between Xavier and Magneto, which explores their complicated relationship.
