Yes! Variety is reporting that Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is tracking to make over $125 million (domestic) during Memorial Day weekend! The upcoming blockbuster releases worldwide, including the highly-coveted, second-highest box office market in China, on May 23rd.
If tracking become reality, this will make DOFP the highest-grossing film in the franchise, next to 2006’s THE LAST STAND, which brought in almost $123 million during it’s four-day Memorial Day launch.
Insiders and analysts predict the film will earn a total of $250 million in the states, which could make it the most financially successful film in the franchise (X3 made $234 million, FIRST CLASS made just $146 million domestically). Numbers in international markets will likely be incredible, with future releases in Japan (May 30) and Spain (June 6).
20th Century Fox isn’t holding back when it comes to promo, the studio has released three theatrical trailers, a plethora of TV spots, viral marketing websites, exclusive tie-ins with Carl’s Jr/Hardees, Schick and Axe, among other companies. In addition, the stars of the film will divide and conquer and take over the world, with premieres in New York, London, Moscow, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Melbourne and Beijing.
