With an “A” Cinemascore and 91% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 195 critics, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST easily took the number one spot at the box office, earning an estimated $91.4 million domestic over the 3-day weekend from over 4,000 locations. With Memorial Day estimates included, the film raked in over $110.6 million during the 4-day holiday haul. Foreign markets had impressive numbers, earning $191 million for a worldwide total of $301.6 million.
The film made $40 million more than last Summer’s THE WOLVERINE and $36 million more than X-MEN: FIRST CLASS; it ranked just below X-MEN: THE LAST STAND ($102.8 million). It was barely unable to beat recent superhero additions “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” ($95 million) and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” ($91.6) million, though critical scores were higher.
See what the fans are saying…

It was just unable to “beat” the fellow CBM competion because people decided to go to cinemas on Monday due to the holiday. If it wasn’t memorial day weekend, we would habe a higher 3 day BO. After 4 days it’s ten millions ahead of the Captain (the most successful film this year). A 250 million at the domestic seems absolutely save right now.
The international BO is astonishing. It crushed all other films released this year (191 million in 4 days). Should easily go to 500 million international. With good holdovers it could even crack the 600 million.
I perdict a 800 million worldwide total for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
Either way. The X-franchise is save and more alife than ever!
