Variety — While promoting the digital release and upcoming Blu-ray/DVD of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, writer and producer Simon Kinberg announced that an extended “Rogue Cut” edition of the film will release next year, most likely in Summer 2015. Anna Paquin’s scenes, which show Rogue being recused by Iceman, Magneto and Professor X, will be added back into the film, along with additional scenes featuring other characters, in more than 10 minutes of new footage.
“It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie,” Kinberg said of Rogue’s storyline. “We want to give [fans] the fullest picture of the film — behind the camera, and in front of it [and show more of] the process we went through [to make the film]. Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.”

I hope this edition will be much different and more action packed than the theatrical one.
Days of Future Past is great just as it is, and does an impressive job of balancing out as many characters as it does while keeping the focus on a few. The reasons for chopping Anna make perfect sense though, so this feels a little like Fox simply pursuing an additional revenue stream.
More power to them, and I suppose I’m pleased for fans who really want this, but the theatrical cut is tight as a drum so I’m skeptical as to the merits of adding what sounds like a largely redundant sub-plot. I’ll check it out with interest, but I do wonder how worthwhile it’ll be.
My question is why are they waiting that long to release the extended cut of the film
Im pretty sure they will add some scenes and cut some of the original scenes from the theaters. Just hoping the story will be new for more surprises..
Make more money silly. I have the 3D wolverine and THE EXTENDED VERSION is not 3d. Kinda sucks. So which do I watch? The 3d version or the better version of the movie? But at least they give you the choice and don’t release two separate versions. I would only buy this Rogue edition if it was 3D as well.
