20th Century Fox’s GAMBIT has found its director! Entertainment Weekly reports that Rupert Wyatt (The Gambler, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) has signed to direct Channing Tatum in the next X-Men spin-off film. Tatum is producing the film along with Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Josh Zetumer (2014’s Robocop) is writing a screenplay based off a treatment by Gambit co-creator, Chris Claremont.
Born in New Orleans and kidnapped from the hospital where he was born, Remy LeBeau was raised by the Clan Thieves Guild. After being exiled, he wanders the world and becomes a master professional thief, making contacts and quite a few enemies. Taking the name Gambit, he finds that he has an uncontrollable amount of mutant energy flowing through him, to the point that he can not withstand it.
The film hits theaters on October 7, 2016.
Okay, now just hire Anna Paquin to play Rogue and we are officially 100% psyched about this film!
