Is Channing Tatum stepping out of his starring role in GAMBIT? A source at The Wrap alleges that “something is up” with active discussions between Tatum and 20th Century Fox. Apparently Tatum’s deal is in jeopardy of falling apart and he’s planning to exit the project. Director Rupert Wyatt is still on board regardless, having screen tested actresses, such as Lea Seydoux (Spectre, Blue is the Warmest Color) and others. If discussions between both parties fall apart Wyatt, along with producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg, may have to find a new leading man.
A few days ago, we learned the film is scheduled for filming in Louisiana on October 13th and continue through February 12th of next year for theatrical release on October 7, 2016. It has an estimated total budget of $154.9 million.
Stay tuned for updates as they come in…
Just bring back Taylor Kitsch!
Obviously this film was only greenlit and push into production because of Channing Tatum but its too late to cancel this film… when casting already began, there’s a director attached, a working script, a release date and a tentative date for the start of filming.
Taylor Kitsch might be a box-office poison but this could an exception and could perform decent just like X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Also I don’t think a Gambit movie needs a $150 million budget… they could make this for $50 million to $75 million and earn a decent profit. And hire Anna Paquin for Rogue!
I agree and not worried. Gambit is a much more worth while movie to make then crappy Deadpool. If Rogue does appear in the film,it will be the kick ass version that Anna says she would like to play/
More people on Twitter are reacting to this news. Apparently few of them wanted to this movie to be done with Channing in the part. By this time, the producers are free to give Taylor Kitch a call.
Or comission a new script that sees Gambit and Rogue meeting.
