20th Century Fox’s DEADPOOL is now officially the most successful R-rated movie of all time at the worldwide box office with $744.8 million. It finally topped “The Matrix Reloaded” record of $742 million. That’s worldwide, not domestic, where the film has earned $349.9 million, sitting just below “American Sniper” ($350.1 mil) and “The Passion of the Christ” ($370.8 mil).
The Tim Miller-directed film starring Ryan Reynolds is now also the highest-grossing X-Men film ever, worldwide, besting 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” ($747.9 million).
Amazingly, Deadpool is the highest grossing film at 20th Century Fox not directed by “Avatar” and “Titanic” filmmaker James Cameron or “Star Wars” creator George Lucas.
This is all on a production budget of just $58 million!
