Entertainment Weekly has graced us with a new photo from season two of Fox’s THE GIFTED series. The new season will kick things off with a six-month time jump, where Emma Dumont’s character Polaris is about to give birth. “We’ve never seen in any Marvel media, and sort of show or TV, a mutant pregnancy and then a mutant delivery,” said Dumont. “This is kind of a pinnacle moment. I feel very honored to be part of Marvel history in this way. It’s super cool!”
Why the concern looks from from her fellow mutants? “We saw at the end of last season that the baby really affected her powers and made her stronger. We don’t know what this labor will do.”
Skyler Samuels returns as the Frost Sisters and Percy Hynes White has a new look for his character Andy Strucker, who forms a close bond with Polaris after choosing to leave his family behind. “Polaris has actually grown really close with Andy,” Dumont explained. “They see each other as the only people they can trust in this situation.Polaris definitely takes on a mentorship role with Andy.”
Also appearing in the photo is former Empire actress Grace Byers, who joins the cast as Reeva Payge, a mutant who can produce sonic blasts that scramble minds. She runs a group called the Inner Circle, who has ulterior motives for Polaris. “They have big plans, and Polaris is a big part of those plans.”
The Gifted returns Tuesday, September 25 at 8PM ET/PT.
