Evan Peters calls DARK PHOENIX “a full on drama” and reflects on Quicksilver casting.

Speaking with GQ magazine on video, Quicksilver actor Evan Peters opened up about director/writer Simon Kinberg’s upcoming DARK PHOENIX, describing the film’s tone and plot. “It’s a full on drama,” he said. “It feels like to me, it’s very like the title says — dark and it’s emotional. It’s about the inner struggle of [Sophie Turner’s] Jean and Phoenix.”

Production ran from June to October 2017 with reshoots planned later this year. Peters said seeing his fellow castmates again since filming X-Men: Apocalypse “was kinda like Summer camp. You go there and see the gang again. You’re on set and it’s long hours and you’re in some sort of weird rubber suit, but everybody’s hilarious. I mean they’re truly some of the funniest people I’ve ever met. You just laugh your ass off, so it’s really fun working on those films.”

Phoenix will be Peters’ third time portraying Peter Maximoff, a quick-witted mutant with super-speed. Reflecting on how he was cast in director Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, “[Bryan Singer] had seen me in ‘American Horror Story’ and called me up and offered me the part of Quicksilver. It was a dream come true. I loved the X-Men movies growing up and was a big fan of Bryan’s and all the actors, characters and the X-Men movies. I was like ‘yes’ immediately, I hadn’t even read anything and he kinda just told me. It was fast and that was it.”
