With Marvel Studios rebooting X-MEN sooner rather than later, prepare for a wave of actors to put their names in the hat for a variety of iconic mutant roles. Recently, actors Luke Hemsworth (Westworld) and Aya Cash (The Boys) expressed their interests, respectively.
Speaking with ScreenRant about his upcoming film Death of Me, Hemsworth, brother of Thor actor Chris, said “I would love to. I grew up with them. I learned to draw through comic books, copying comic books since I was about 10 years old. Spawn was a big one for; I really loved Todd McFarlane’s Spawn. And then Batman – I would have fought Rob Pattinson for those gauntlets. And Wolverine! I’m like, ‘Come on, just pass them on, mate. Let’s give it to another Aussie.’ I’ll have to grow some chest hair, but I’m ready for Wolverine.”
Cash, on the other hand, tells ScreenGeek that she has a few characters in mind, including Beast. “I grew up on X-Men. So, in my fantasy world, I’d be in that universe, the Phoenix Rising. I would have loved to be a part of the X-Men world. And if there’s another opportunity – X-Men Geriatrics – they can come to me whenever,” she joked. “I mean, I did just mention Jean Grey.”
“Yeah, but I also, I mean, my favorite character in all of the X-Men universe was always Beast. So, if we’re going to do gender swap – no, they would kill me. I don’t even want to do a gender swap.” “I’d do Rogue, Jean Grey, and Beast for my pick.”
