Many people were shocked when Marvel Studios teased Patrick Stewart as Professor X in the latest trailer for DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. While rumors persisted on the actor’s involvement with the film, no one really expected marketing to tease this massive cameo early on.
Denying his appearance in jest, and avoiding Feige snipers, Stewart told ComicBook.com, “You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago. So, I can’t be held responsible for that.”
Whether Stewart knew of the scene being revealed ahead of time is anyone’s guess, but the actor did tell entertainment interviewer Kevin McCarthy that he received words of excitement from friends and acquaintances.
“I don’t look at a lot of social media, and that is mostly a time issue. I must say, before bedtime Sunday evening, I’ve had plenty communications from friends and some people I hardly knew at all making reference to it. ‘Is that you!?’ Well of course, you know, I was just at home waiting to watch football, so how could it possibly been me?” he joked. “So…we’ll have to wait and see. Don’t we?” he said on his role.
