Jon Hamm almost portrayed Mister Sinister? Yep! The Mad Men actor confirmed to Yahoo Movies that he was in talks to portray to popular X-Men villain in director Josh Boone’s THE NEW MUTANTS film.
“I never shot anything,” he revealed. “I remember having a conversation with people: I’m a huge comic book fan, especially of the X-Men and The New Mutants, so I was excited to be considered. But these conversations happen and then life intervenes.”
The 20th Century Fox/Studios production was meant to undergo extensive reshoots before being acquired by Disney, which led to the original print becoming the final print. The reshoots were planned to be supervised under producer Simon Kinberg, with an added plot point, a couple new characters, and more thrills in the mix.
With the mutant franchise now under Marvel Studios, it’s a big question mark when Mister Sinister will find his way to the big (or small) screen. We’re hoping sooner rather than later, as there are many villainous characters we’ve yet to meet. With what seems like a perfect casting, maybe Hamm will be given another look when the time comes.
