Variety has confirmed that FREE GUY and THE ADAM PROJECT director Shawn Levy will direct Ryan Reynolds in DEADPOOL 3 for Marvel Studios. The third film in Reynolds’ successful series will be written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who penned the first two entries. Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux (Bob’s Burgers) were originally tasked to write the screenplay, but it’s unknown if any of their ideas will move forward.
Disney and Marvel expressed interest in not messing with Deadpool’s formula, with the possibility of keeping it’s R rating. With the original writers returning, and Reynolds’ pull, it seems possible that adult-oriented theatricals adventures in the MCU may become a thing.
Ahead of his future feature film, Deadpool is rumored to make a debut in DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS (May 6).
