With Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X in Marvel Studios’ DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, the door is open for previous X-Men legacy actors to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as variants or even proper versions of their characters. Attending the premiere for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, original Cyclops actor James Marsden was asked by ScreenRant if he’d be interested in reprising his role as Scott Summers.
“I’m watching those headlines as a fan as well,” he said of the various cameo rumors. “That’d be fun. I’ve been doing it for almost 30 years and it’s very rare to say that you’ve had experiences like the first X-Men. We did three of them, I was part of three of them, and you become a family. You really do love these characters, the cast, the crew, everybody — and the same thing’s happening on this film, which is kind of bringing back memories of that experience. So I would always be open to that, revisiting that world.”
When we last saw Cyclops, he and Jean were living safely at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. LOGAN looks to have changed that happy ending, as it was revealed that more than 600 people, including a number of X-Men ended up dying from ailing Xavier’s devastating telepathic attack. Then there’s the genetically modified crops which led to a very rapid decrease in mutant births.
