Once Upon a Deadpool brought a small dose of holiday cheer to cinema screens in 2018, but did you know star Ryan Reynolds and the OG screenwriters had ideas for a full Christmas movie? Speaking with Big Issue about how he’d “love to see a song and dance number in a Deadpool movie,” Reynolds revealed that “Four years ago Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made.”
Deadpool’s first adventure in the MCU under Marvel Studios will be with Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine, and while the holidays don’t appear to be a factor in that story, don’t lose hope for it eventually being made. “Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie,” he said. “It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”
A Marvel Studios Special Presentation Holiday Special, perhaps?
