James Marsden would “love to explore” Cyclops’ return for future MCU events.

With DEADPOOL 3 (2024), THE KANG DYNASTY (2025), and especially SECRET WARS (2026), there’s a great chance we’ll see a number of the X-Men cast reprise their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The multiversal war is coming! Speaking with The Wrap, OG Cyclops actor James Marsden says he’d be interested in returning if under the right circumstances.

“Sure, yeah. I mean, I’m all about, you know, material. What the story is, and what the character would be doing,” said Marsden. “But it’s a character that I played, and it’s very close to my heart. You know, that family – I miss it dearly. We created a very special thing in the first couple of X-Men movies. Yeah, I’d love to explore that, but you know, I would want to see what that looks like first, I guess.”

We’ve already been treated to Patrick Stewart’s return as a Professor X variant from Earth-838. Then there’s Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman returning next year as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively. It’s clear the MCU is giving the legends another round before fully diving into the mutant world.
