Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, actor Patrick Stewart paraphrased Ian McKellen’s reaction to him reprising his iconic role as Professor X in last year’s DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. “Actually, it went very well. He did say something like [‘Hey, I would’ve done this!’], yes that’s true,” he said, before dropping a massive tease that might make Marvel Studios leader Kevin Feige sweat: “But we’re not done, Sir Ian and myself. We’re… we got plans.”
A number of X-Men from the 20th Century FoXverse are rumored to appear in DEADPOOL 3 (2024) and AVENGERS: SECRET WARS (2026) specifically. Sandwiched between those films is AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY (2025) as another potential candidate. Industry scooper Grace Randolph has teased: “I know one person who’s coming back, and it’s not Ian McKellen, and I’m excited. All I’ll say is this person deserves justice, so I’m glad they’re coming back.”
It would be so fun to see Xavier and Magneto again, along with the rest of them: Jean, Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Iceman, Beast, Wolverine, Mystique, and even Channing Tatum as a one-time Gambit! 😁
