Development On X-MEN Picks Up! Marvel Studios Planning Writer Meetings

Deadline has some eXciting news! Marvel Studios will reportedly start setting writer meetings later this Fall for pitches on its anticipated X-Men movie. According to their sources, the process of bringing Mutants into the MCU (properly after the FoXverse have their fun) has been at a slower pace, with them noting there is no rush to fill the job since the film hasn’t been dated yet. Marvel’s Kevin Feige has been involved in developing the legendary IP, but the studio has been focused on getting their current slate of projects out there before fully tackling it. Fans can realistically expect someone to be brought onboard early next year.

The MCU is a big question mark after Avengers: Secret Wars (2017), but I keep hearing the universe will be rebooted, at least partially, after the events of that mega-event. It’ll probably be where we say goodbye to the FoXmen, for real, and usher in a new age with The Mutant Saga.

So when can we expect Marvel Studios’ X-MEN? That’s anyone’s guess, but a Winter 2027 launch directly after Secret Wars would be neat. Then again, it IS Marvel’s X-Men, so kicking off Spring/Summer 2028 is even more ideal. 👴
