Mark Momback rewriting THE WOLVERINE; additional film details.

Variety reports that THE WOLVERINE screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie is getting a rewrite by Mark Momback, who recently worked on Bryan Singer’s “Jack the Giant Killer” and the upcoming “Total Recall” reboot.

According to the site, the story “will find Wolverine suffering from amnesia and searching for answers about his past in the Japanese criminal underworld where he finds both love and tragedy.”

The cast will mostly consist of Japanese and Japanese-American actors with the exception of an expanded role for the character of Viper (who we mentioned last week), a Caucasian secretary to Japan’s Minister of Justice who has her own deadly secrets.

Filming, headed by director James Mangold, is expected to begin early 2012 in Vancouver and Tokyo.
