Producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently promoted the upcoming X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Blu-Ray, which hits stores beginning on Friday, September 9 during a Fox Home Entertainment media day. She had plenty to say about future films in the X-MEN film franchise, giving updates on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2, THE WOLVERINE, DEADPOOL and X-MEN 4.
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2 (I Am Rogue)
“We’re talking about it. We’re seriously talking about it. We’re back and regrouping and kicking around some ideas. I think we just need to come up with a really good story and see where that leads us.”
When asked if Cyclops and Jean Grey would be included, she said “Maybe. Let’s just say, I hope so.”
X-MEN 4 (Hollywood)
“There could be an X4, but I think for now we don’t want to saturate the market,” she said. “I think there was such a good response to First Class that if we go forward in that universe, we’ll probably make a sequel [to First Class].”
THE WOLVERINE (HitFix)
“[We want] to distinguish it from [Origins]. It’s much more of a standalone. I’m not sure when we’ll start,” she said. “Maybe summer 2012 we’ll start shooting. It’s based on Hugh’s schedule, frankly. When he’s available, we’ll film. He’s doing ‘Les Miserables’, and then he has to come and train for us. So it’s all dependent on him.”
DEADPOOL (Hollywood)
“In the next couple of months we’ll be presenting some things to the studio. Deadpool is going to be way different from any of the other X-Men movies. It’s very crazy, more R-rated.”
NOOOO!! This is exactly what I was afraid of with Xmen First Class! I was worried that if it did too well they would pursue its sequel instead of X4!
Until reading this I actually thought that maybe the opposite had happened, that since XMFC didn’t make that much money maybe they would drop everything altogether (worse case scenario)…but apparently they seem to feel like it was successful enough. …
I wish they would see that despite XMFC getting great reviews, it still didn’t that make that much… BECAUSE XMEN 4 IS WHAT WE WANT

As happy as I am that First Class 2 is in serious talks, I can’t help to feel bumbed out about X4 not moving foward, they need to redeem The X-MEN trilogy, just like they’re redeeming Wolverine and Deadpool.

Mutants are called children of the atom. There’s also a “Children of the Atom” feature on the Blu-Ray and DVD which goes behind the scenes of production. Hope I answered your question!
Then, I rather to see the X4 first before the XFC sequel. X4 has lot of important characters than XFC although they both great movies.

Glad they’re still pushing the X-movie franchise. Shame about X4 but I’m happy for a sequel to first class all the same. The best news about Wolverine and Deadpool though, both needed a serious rehash, and I’m hyped that they’re pushing deadpool to be r-rated, I just hope the studio go for it!! 🙂
If Fox allows an rated R Deadpool I will be ecstatic! 🙂

The films would effectively be made by different groups of people….. so I’m all for them making both to be honest!! 🙂
Its time to give up on the old xmen and continue with the new first class… that other triliogy just went down a terribly awful path after such a promising start… its time to start new…
I am more than psyched to hear about a sequel to the X-Men first class, it was truly a great movie; it got a great rating and everybody loved it!
I think that having an X4 would be awesome too, the X-Men series should be continued but so should the X-Men First Class!! I think that both of these projects should happen.
I have equal thoughts on Wolverine and Deadpool; I believe that they should happen too, yet I don’t think that having Deadpool as an R-rated movie is the wisest idea because really, the true audience that loves these films are teenagers! Young people are definitely more interested in these types of movies than any other group of people.

for those of you wishing for X4 instead of XMFC 2..are you out of your minds??? XMFC was by far the best XMen movie ever made and it isn’t even close. As a matter of fact I won’t even watch another X movie until they make XMFC 2 and if they don’t then I’ll never watch another.
I seriously hope they move forward with X4, because X3 sucked with a lame story, too many mutants and some killed off the wrong way. Hopefully, they will try and put together a story that can fix the last one and keep the main mutants in the trilogy.
