A spin-off of the X-Men, Marvel Comics’ Generation X was created by writer Scott Lobdell and artist Chris Bachalo. The group debuted during the 1994 “Phalanx Covenant” storyline, and they appeared in their own monthly series with Generation X #1.
The team consisted of Jubilee, Husk, Chamber, Penance, Synch, Skin, M and a number of other supporting characters, including Mondo, Leech and Artie. They were lead by headmistress Emma Frost and Sean Cassidy aka Banshee.
The first volume ran from 1994-2001, with a second volume (featuring a different creative team) in 2017. Marvel has since been sitting on this IP and a number of the characters, although Synch did graduate to X-Man during the Krakoan era of comics.
Generation X is one of my favorite comic titles from the past; specifically the original run with Lobdell and Bachalo. If you’ve never read it, check it out. You’ll fall in love with the characters, I promise!
