Will Marvel Studios’ X-MEN Release In 2027? Plus: Kitty Pryde Casting Rumor

It’s looks like Marvel Studios upcoming X-Men film is picking up steam, if scooper Jeff Sneider is to be believed. The news dropper took to social media to reveal what he’s heard about the neXt wave of mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a potential casting rumor.

“I’m now hearing X-MEN will begin shooting next year for a 2027 release,” he writes. “That means official casting news likely coming in the next few months… along with a director announcement. Have a feeling that CinemaCon is gonna be nuts this year!”

Sneider also has one name that’s possibly in contention for the role of Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat.

“HOT RUMOR #1: FREAKIER FRIDAY star JULIA BUTTERS eyed to play KITTY PRYDE in Marvel’s new X-MEN movie.”

Butters (15) has a prominent role on the television series American Housewife.

Does this hint towards Kitty potentially taking on the Jubilee/Rogue role, when it comes to a newbie entering the world of the X-Men? We’ll have to wait and see on that.

Sneider has previously mentioned Sadie Sink (22) as being looked at for Jean Grey, and Harris Dickinson (28) for Cyclops.

If we get X-Men in 2027, then chances are they’ll play a role in Marvel’s blowouts, Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars.
