Sony Pictures has officially released two brand-new posters for the upcoming reboot of Resident Evil, alongside a behind-the-scenes featurette spotlighting director Zach Cregger and his terrifying new vision for the iconic survival horror franchise. The video shows the filmmaker’s approach to bringing the iconic video game world back to theaters with a grounded and intense reinvention inspired by classic survival horror storytelling.
In the official featurette, Cregger discusses his passion for survival horror and how he wanted to capture the fear and unpredictability that made the original games such a phenomenon. With the film coming “from the mind behind Weapons and Barbarian,” Cregger promises a relentless and immersive experience for audiences.

The film follows Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, a medical courier who suddenly finds himself trapped in a horrifying nightmare when one fateful night spirals into complete chaos. As terrifying events unfold around him, Bryan is forced into a nonstop race for survival. The film also stars Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.

Produced by Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film in association with TriStar Pictures for Sony, the film is written by Cregger alongside Shay Hatten. Producers on the project include Robert Kulzer, Zach Cregger, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan, and Asad Qizilbash, with executive producers Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright, and Robert Bernacci helping bring the legendary horror franchise back to the big screen.
Filmed for IMAX, Resident Evil is set to hit theaters on September 18, 2026.
