The title is a clever pun on the Season 3 episode Weapon X, Lies, and Video Tape from the original 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series. The original 1995 episode features Wolverine discovering that his Weapon X past, including his false memories of Silver Fox and his brainwashed love affair, was a government lie.
