Director Matt Reeves has finally given fans their first glimpse of The Batman Part II, sharing a moody new “camera test” featuring Robert Pattinson back in the cape and cowl. The brief footage offers a slow panning shot of Gotham’s Dark Knight as flashing police lights illuminate the background, teasing the same noir-inspired atmosphere that defined 2022’s The Batman.

The first look arrives alongside disappointing news for audiences awaiting the sequel. Warner Bros. has once again delayed The Batman Part II, which is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2028. The film has already experienced multiple release-date shifts, pushing Pattinson’s return as Bruce Wayne nearly six years after his first solo outing as the Caped Crusader.

Reeves returns to direct and co-write the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin, while Dylan Clark is producing. Behind the camera, several key creatives from the original film are expected to return, including cinematographer Greig Fraser, composer Michael Giacchino, and production designer James Chinlund, helping to maintain the distinctive look and tone of Reeves’ Gotham.

Pattinson reprises his role as Batman alongside returning cast members Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot following the success of HBO’s The Penguin. New cast members include Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch. Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but Reeves has previously suggested that the sequel will continue exploring Gotham’s corruption and the consequences of the events depicted in both The Batman and its television spinoff.

For now, the newly released camera test offers only a tantalizing preview of what lies ahead. Although the wait for The Batman Part II has grown even longer, Reeves’ latest footage confirms that Pattinson’s Dark Knight is preparing to return to Gotham’s streets when the sequel finally opens in 2028.
