X-Men Films And Superhero Entertainment News — Trailers, Industry Coverage, Reviews, Original Comics: SUPER (2025-), Mutant Fandom And More

The worlds of comic books, tabletop games, and digital spaces have long fueled the imagination of creators and fans alike. A special panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, titled From Short Films to Sinners: How Hollywood Creates Virtual Worlds . . . and You Can Too, will examine how emerging technology is reshaping the way stories are told both on screen and in interactive media. The discussion takes place on Saturday, July 25, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. PDT in Room 25ABC.

The session will trace the evolution of world-building, from the pages of comic books and the role-playing adventures of Dungeons & Dragons to the rise of online identities, virtual reality, and modern filmmaking techniques. Today’s advances in virtual production and real-time game engines are enabling performers to step directly into digital environments, creating new possibilities that blur the boundaries between actors and avatars, practical sets and simulations, and fiction and personal experience.

Drawing on footage from the upcoming Tribeca 2026 short film VERSE and scenes from the 2025 hit Sinners, the panel will explore topics such as motion capture, hybrid filmmaking, real-time production pipelines, and avatar-based performances. Panelists will also discuss how these tools are being used to tell stories, while making high-end production techniques more accessible to independent creators.

The conversation will feature filmmakers and game designers Noam Argov and Sappir Argov, neuroscientist Eric Leonardis, Oscar-nominated visual effects supervisor Michael Ralla, whose credits include Sinners and Avengers, and actor and voice performer Nicole Pacent, known for Criminal Minds and her role as Mystique in the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine video game. Additional guests are expected to join the discussion, which will be moderated by Beth Accomando, host of KPBS Cinema Junkie and founder of Film Geeks SD.

For anyone interested in the intersection of filmmaking, gaming, and immersive technology, this panel promises a fascinating look at the tools that are shaping the next generation of storytelling.
