Warner Bros. has announced that Mortal Kombat II will make its streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max on Friday, July 24. Those who missed the film in theaters, or those who are eager to experience the amazing action again, will be able to watch the latest chapter in the legendary fighting franchise from home. The movie will also premiere on HBO the following evening, Saturday, July 25, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Leading the cast is Karl Urban as fan-favorite fighter Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. The sequel reunites many of the series’ iconic champions as they face their greatest challenge yet: an all-out battle against the forces of Shao Kahn, whose reign threatens the future of Earthrealm and everyone sworn to protect it.

In addition to the standard release, an American Sign Language (ASL) version of Mortal Kombat II will launch on HBO Max on the same day. The accessible presentation features ASL performer Justin Perez and is directed by Rosa Lee Timm, whose previous credits include Sinners with BASL and Minecraft with ASL. The adaptation incorporates Visual Vernacular, a dynamic storytelling style that blends sign language, expressive movement, mime, and facial performances to bring the film’s intense action sequences to life in a unique way.
Mortal Kombat II is directed by Simon McQuoid from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the iconic video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The film is produced by Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, and McQuoid, with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Slater, Boon, and Lawrence Kasanoff serving as executive producers.
