There were several new updates on the future of X-Men ’97 during its Comic-Con panel, giving us a better idea of what’s ahead for the acclaimed animated series.
Among the biggest announcements, Marvel Animation confirmed that Season 3 has already been completed and is scheduled to premiere next year in 2027. It’s also been revealed that work on Season 4 is currently underway, showing that development on the series is continuing well beyond the upcoming season.
One of the most exciting teases is centered on Wolverine. The creative said Season 3 will include a Wolverine-focused episode that they believe will leave fans stunned.
Attendees also got an exclusive first look at footage from Season 3. The clip featured the Brotherhood of Mutants battling the Sentinels. The Brotherhood lineup consists of Toad, Blob, Avalanche, Pyro, and the mutant Spark. In the scene, the group is seen spray-painting “Mutant Freedom” on a wall before being confronted by blue Sentinels bearing stars on their chests, perhaps a government-themed Sentinel unit?
X-Men ’97 Season 2 is currently streaming on Disney+ with new episodes every Wednesday.
