The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that X-MEN: FIRST CLASS has made the top 10 shortlist of films in the running for the “Achievement in Visual Effects” nomination. Members of the Academy’s Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the films on Thursday, January 19. Following the screenings, the members will vote to nominate 5 films for final Oscar consideration.
Other films in the running include “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” “Hugo,” “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “Pirates of the Caribeen: On Stranger Tides,” “Real Steel,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “The Tree of Life.”
Nominees will be announced on January 24!
I really hope they get it. The film has great effects!
I can see why the academy decided on the other nominations – except for: Captain America. That movie had the most horrible CGI the last year. Terrible! You could tell when actors were standing in front of a greenscreen. Embarrassing for a 150 million dollar movie.
Glad they left Thor out of the game. The Finale was Asylum-SFX-quality.
My guess is: It will be a tie between “Real Steel”, “Apes”, “Potter”, “Tree of Life” and “Hugo”.
As much as I enjoyed FIRST CLASS. Those movies had the better SFX (due to more time in post production).
its to dificult to know whitch film its going to nominee coz lots of them are very profound by CGI Speccial Efftcs for Excemple this movie, thor, Crash of the Titans, return of the Apes and X-men FC by the effects of Each one of them and some of a few are like that so who knows is going to nominee that,s why it is to difficult to choose what film is going to nominee excuse my ortography explication of this movies i hope getts better thankz
