X2 composer and editor John Ottman has revealed that he’ll be returning for Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST! Ottman’s score is definitely one of the most memorable themes in the entire franchise. Clevver Movies got the chance to catch up with Ottman, along with Bryan Singer and actor Nicholas Hoult at the red carpet premiere for “Jack the Giant Slayer,” which you can view in the videos below:

Hmmm…. IHMO Powell, Gregson-Williams and Jackman were better. These three really delivered an epic score. Ottman’s OST was just a little too generic for my taste. For example, I cannot remember any theme from it, whereas “Dark Phoenix tragedy” (Powel), “Logan through time” (Williams) and “Mutant and Proud” (Jackman) are memorable, unique and distinct themes. I hoped for another Jackman score.
not IHMO, IMHO of course… 😉
you guys have to excuse me i don’t know what is this word “ihmo” but good luck with that and i don’t have any comments coz everything is very well understood so sorry but thank you but the interviews of both persons was super interesting and very exciting so now we are going to have to wait untill the sun comes up excitily of course so thank you
I’m pleased that Ottman is returning. ‘Magneto’s Old Tricks’ is one of my favourite songs throughout the franchise.
Hey guys do u agree with me that BryanSinger should make Rogue a badass in the movie in Day of future past . Also see Rogue have Ms.Marvel like in the comic book 2.
She can’t have any connection with Ms. Marvel. Fox does not own the rights to her. She can still be a badass without those powers as long as she is written properly. If Halle Berry signs on for this movie as is now rumoured, it’s highly likely that both Iceman and Rogue will be supporting characters with hardly any screentime.
Jean-Pierre, that’s exactly my thought. I was hoping Berry stayed away because I remember how “demanding” her involvement was back when X3 was being made. Now that Jennifer Lawrence has received an Oscar, though, Halle Berry might have to take a back seat, for once…wait a second, Anna Paquin has also been awarded an Oscar, so nevermind–that hasn’t helped her at all. Then again, I’m sure that’s why she’s always a point of focus in the marketing campaigns.
Egh.. I’d rather see more of Halle Berry than Jennifer Lawrence. In the end it’s up to Singer and the writers though. I hope this movie is over 2 hours with all the people who are going to be in it.
Ms. Marvel belongs with the Avengers, and so is part of Marvel Studios and their films.
3 hours is a MUST with such a huge cast! No way, they will get away with it in a shorter running time.
The only aspect I have to complain about concerning THE LAST STAND was it’s running time. This movie was so fast paced, so overcrowded… a little slow down and maybe 45 to 60 minutes more screentime, would have made it truly epic.
I think you forgot the whole movie was a mistake.
I am so let down by this. While I enjoyed Singer’s X-Men, I far preferred Vaughan’s movie as he had far less famous heroes to work with, but he did so much more. Matthew Vaughan and Henry Jackman were part of what made First Class my favourite X-movie, what they did was amazing! Ottman’s score was fine but it did not touch me the way Jackman’s work did.
Regardless, I’ll go in with an open mind but…mmmmm….uneasy….
I just read the news. Disappointed. The score is so important and Jackman’s score was so much better. I really also not happy that we have so few of the First Class cast coming back (at least so far). It is wait and see, and even though Singer had influence on the First Class movie, I’m starting to wonder how much better the Matthew Vaughn version would have been. X-Men: First Class re-invigorated the franchise, not the original cast. The crashed and burned. Still looking forward to this, but expectations have just been lowered.
I definitely think they should keep more of the “First Class” cast. Like you said, maybe there are some more that will return. Keeping my fingers crossed. I think Banshee, Emma Frost, Moira MacTaggert and Azazel should all return. I’m a big fan of Ottman, but Jackman’s score was gold as well.
I read that January Jones and Jason Flemying are not coming back. Which is actually fine with me. Jones who has excellent in Mad Men wasn’t really good in First Class, except that she did look the part. Since Nightcrawler isn’t going to be DOFP, I don’t mind that Azazel isn’t going to be in it. The whole father/son connection can just be avoided. What annoys me is that only two of First Class X-Men and Brotherhood are returning so far (Xavier and Beast/ Magneto and Mystique). Where are the rest? I’m sure you could say they all died in the next 11 year period. But c’mon. It would be nice to have at least a couple more of the First Class cast involved. Especially Havok and Banshee IMO. But the casting isn’t complete, so we’ ll have to wait and see.
