In preparation for the upcoming teaser trailer, which debuts online Wednesday, March 27th, Entertainment Weekly has released eight new photos from THE WOLVERINE, which feature Hugh Jackman as Logan, Tao Okamoto as Mariko Yashida, Svetlana Khodchenkova as Viper, and Rila Fukushima as Yukio.
Logan is now serving as a protector for Mariko, the target of the Yakuza. “At the time this movie opens, there’s a kind of gangland war going on between law enforcement and the Yakuza, and there’s been a lot of kidnappings and extortion,” explains director James Mangold, “So she’s someone who’s under threat.”
Viper, a villainess straight from the comic books, is brought in to help another one of the film’s baddies. Teases Mangold, “As her name would imply, she’s kind of snakelike. She likes to play with toxins. She’s immune to toxins. She’s kind of formidable.”
Says Mangold, “Viper views Logan like a great hunter might view hunting a lion in his quarry. There’s kind of an admiration, a desire to destroy and a desire to consume and to have and to hold.”
While in Japan, Wolverine is befriended by Yukio. Says Mangold, “I would say they have a unique relationship. She’s lethal herself.”
Death, or Wolverine’s inability to die, is a theme that echoes throughout the film. “He realizes everyone he loves dies, and his whole life is full of pain,” says Jackman. “So it’s better that he just escapes. He can’t die really. He just wants to get away from everything.”
A funeral at a Japanese temple is interrupted by an attack by the Yakuza which naturally brings out Wolverine’s claws. “There’s an urgency and a kind of intensity and hand to hand physicality to the fighting that I hope is a little different than everything else out there,” says Mangold.
Mangold stresses that Yukio can more than hold her own in this world of ninjas and mutants. “She’s a tremendous fighter.”
Besides her butt-kicking skills, Yukio also has style. Says Mangold, “I think she’s both sexy and almost kind of sprung from the anime world. It’s a real badass character.”

I like the look for Viper…I’m glad Svetlana got the role instead of Jessica Biel, as she looks more menacing. I bet Yukio will be a fun character too.
I’m sure with a Japanese in it.. The fighting scene here will be bloody and hardcore..
Viper is hot just like Emma Frost in XFC, I hope she could fight like a badass sexy fighter in the film.. Just wonderin why she lost her green hair..
i got the impression of Viper looks like Poison Ivey from batman forever who apearing Robin and Arnold Schwarsenneger like Icemen in this movie batman forever i m sorry but is true she looks like Poison Ivey from batman forever with George Clooney and Chris with Uma truman i m sorry but is true the modle of Viper looks like pretty much like Poison Ivey
Ok, now that Fox has used Viper, feels like its time for the real gree haired girl, Polaris! She’s a great mutant, so hopefully sooner rather than later (on a reboot or something)

Looks like this film will be really far ahead in contrast to the first film.
Tomorrow will be the judgement day guys.. We’ll gonna witness if this movie is rotten or fresh..
Fresh… I have been waiting for this film since 2009. I never anticipated a film like that before.

Hopefully this movie is taking it’s story telling from more successful films like the Dark Knight Trilogy where it is a solid story. Not boring one sided trash like the Spider-man reboot film.
Spider-man reboot isn’t boring.. And I think it would be best if there is no comparing occur with those movies..
