Empire Magazine features quotes from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST actor James McAvoy, who talks about the size of Hugh Jackman’s role, the “psychedelic” 70’s costumes in the film, and exploring the relationship between Charles and Erik.
Wolverine’s role:
“Hugh’s got a big part. You throw Hugh Jackman in there and he comes with so much rage. I’m really looking forward to working with him. He’d better ****ing bring it.”
Charles Xavier’s 1973 clothing:
“I’m excited about my costumes, which are ****ing awesome.” said McAvoy. “[Charles is] on his way to becoming Patrick Stewart, but he’s not quite there yet. The ’70s costumes are hilarious, they’re quite psychedelic, which is great.”
Exploring Charles and Erik:
“I’m excited to work with [Ian] McKellen too. It’s working off what we set up in [First Class]. The relationship between Charles and Erik is being explored in the future and in the past.”
Big role for Hugh.. What about the other? any words? Wolverine is the time traveler with the old Magneto to the past.. I hope Rogue and the others belong to the future to fight with Sentinels..
This movie is already starting to look like the Wolverine show all over again. Would have liked if he would have stepped back a little bit to let some of the other characters shine.
This is sooo freaking frustrating for me! Wolverine, wolverine, wolverine…gawd…he should die already! I want to see more of Kitty, Rogue and Iceman!
I bet he will be romantically linked to the younger Mystique as well. He runs the show.
hell yeah… cannot get enough of Wolverine. sorry haters… he rocks.
Well I don’t hate Wolverine.. I just love Rogue .:D
I love her too, and Angel, and Nightcrawler, and Gambit, and Kitty…. but no, Wolverine “is the best” “he has to have the biggest role”….. Im bored and tired of it already.
If they spend time developing the other characters as much as Wolverine, then they could become very popular too. Maybe not as popular as Wolverine, but still…
I feel you mate.. Actually, some of us feel the same..
Hugh is the best! But I need the other mutant to step up in this film.. They put them together in one movie and it’s a million years for that to happen.. unlike Wolverine who shows every year in x-men movie..
Where do they think they can put Rogue, or Iceman or Kitty in a movie? they can’t even make a stand alone movie of them.. well of course they can’t.. but Wolverine always does..
It has nothing to do with hating Wolverine. I don’t hate him, I’m tired of him. His character is over used. This is called X-MEN not The Wolverine… he already has his own movies. Don’t get me wrong I love Hugh and Wolverine is awesome but I would to see an X-Men movie that focuses more on Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Iceman, Shadowcat and others. I have to say this does not excite me. Kind of a let down.
^ Pretty much this. Before the X-Men movies ever came out I was purely a Gambit fan.. it’s expanded to other characters now (like Iceman and Cyclops). Hugh Jackman does a good job as Wolverine… I have nothing against him. Heck, I’m really anxious to see his new movie. I just don’t want him to be the centre of the universe in DOFP. It’s an X-Men movie.. not a Wolverine movie.
I really hope Wolverine doesn’t take center stage. They really shouldn’t invest so much into one character, when there are a ton of others to showcase.
were all in this together mates..
I’m sorry guys, but the reality is that wolverines character saved the xmen franchise in the comics. Please keep in mind that the original xmen comics did not sell well for marvel in the 60’s. It wasn’t until after giant sized xmen # 1 that the xmen comics began to sell, and a lot that had to do with the emergence of new characters, in particular wolverine. If you look at the original Phoenix saga one of the most memorable and anticipated story lines was when wolverine went solo and killed a bunch of hellfire club members, which became a definitive moment in his evolution. From pretty much that moment on he became marvels new golden boy next to Spider-Man, being showcased in pretty much every new marvel title as a guest or featured in a struggling title to help it sell. Has wolverine been overexposed? Absolutely yes and it’s damaged his character a bit, but that’s what happens to every single great superhero. It’s happened to superman, batman, spidey etc… And now it’s happening to ironman. I understand why so many fans don’t want wolverine to become the focal point, but if you’re marvel or fox you kind of have to, but that doesn’t mean that their cannot be other characters that can share that spotlight with him. If fox can showcase wolverine in dofp, the same way they did with ironman in the avengers, which was to showcase ironman as pretty much the main character but w/o sacrificing the other lead roles, then I think everybody will be happy.
