James McAvoy spoke with Empire Podcast (via Comic Book Therapy) about filming X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The actor praised writer Simon Kinberg, who had the daunting task of combining the original trilogy cast with the “First Class” crew.
“When you’ve got that a story and that many cast members, you need to orchestrate it well,” says McAvoy. “That’s going to happen in editing as well and probably with pickups. Every single movie you do, whether it’s a big one or a small one, they always have some kind of additional footage shot. Even better is to do it on the day. You always get on set and find stuff that works great on the page doesn’t work well on the screen. You get halfway through the film and you go ‘that stuff that we changed four weeks ago with that scene doesn’t work with that character now, but we still need them to come up and really have their time here so we need to change it.’ You need somebody like Simon who can work fast, who can be insightful and get to the core of what the script needs really quick. To watch him problem solve as we went was incredible.”

Im a little worried.. they filmed it so fast.. and we all know what happened before with X3 when it was fast track :$
it took 5 months to film. Thats not really rushing.
still mixed feelings about it. How come they finished the filming that fast? i mean, Hugh said it was like three movie in one film.. but how it happen if they really rushed it..
It’s usually around 6 months of filming for Bryan Singer’s X-Men films. 5 months isn’t much a difference. Plus his filming process has probably improved since X2. Technology making things move faster and scheduling was probably pieced together perfectly for a swift production.
