Future Wolverine will be making the trip back to 1973 in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and actor Hugh Jackman tells USA Today that Logan’s not so keen on making the time-jumping adventure, despite the world nearing its Apocalypse.
“He’s less reluctant to help out and join in,” he says, “but the stakes are definitely higher in this movie than ever before. He still occupies that same role as being devil’s advocate with everybody. He just doesn’t accept. He gets roped into having to do this mission that he’s probably not the right person for but is the only one physically able to do it.”
I love you Hugh and like Wolverine but am so Wolverined out. I am kinda over that character. I wanna see Storm, Gambit, Cyclops stories come to life. I wanna see their characters explored.
It will be ok for me to kill Wolverine at the moment and bring him back again if we really need him the most. There are many mutants to be explore and some of the characters are still underground that they need to show.
X-Men will work perfectly well without Wolverine. Example of it doing so abound in the comic books.
I think this is really about Hugh being aware that there’s only so much longer he can reasonably play this character, and wanting to make sure that what he does between now and when he has to hang up the claws is something he’ll be proud of. If that means calling it a day with DoFP, then so be it.
I’d be quite confident that we’ll see him in Mangold’s movie. After that!? Who knows…???
