Lots of varying opinions from the fans after Vulture reported that X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will “allegedly” focus strictly on the past X-Men battling the ancient mutant Apocalypse. Bleeding Cool combats this, saying Fox might still be considering both casts. Regardless, a large group of fans are excited that the “First Class” crew will likely continue their time onscreen and complete a trilogy (at the minimum), while another large group are hoping for the focus to be turned towards the original trilogy gang.

I get that Apocalypse is part of the First Class trilogy the actors signed up for, but there is no way in hell the Apocolypse storyline can work in 70’s-80’s. This is a future type storyline that would make sense if Wolverine came back to an even worse apocalyptic future. Even if Prof X recruits Cyclops, Jean, and Storm for Apocalypse, they are most likely going to be teens who are barely learning to control their powers. Are we really suppose to believe that they manage to defeat Apocalypse who will be possessing Magneto? Which brings me to my next point, Magneto possessed by Apocalypse, really? I hope all of these news sources are full of crap because I want to see the real Apocalypse.

JUST COMPARE THE BOX-OFFICE PERFORMANCES OF THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY TO FIRST CLASS.
It seems obvious to me that FOx is only bringing back the original cast to draw more people and get invested with the First Class cast.
But I’m telling you, people want to see the original cast MORE!
He call himself Apocalypse, meaning the end of the world.. it means its in the future and not in the past.. I rather see the third XFC with Onslaught story line or with mister Sinister.. and then X5 to be X-men: Apocalypse..

I honestly think these sources are full of crap. I think these updates and “scripts” and “inside men” are just using all these blogs to keep the X-Men hype up to compete with existing franchises like Spider-Man, Avengers and Justice League. But if these rumors do have an merit, I don’t think it would make sense to have the most powerful mutant in existence battle the X-Men when they are still learning their powers and who they are as people. It would never work because that would put into question how powerful Apocalypse really is. I hope Magneto is encountering Apocalypse in the past so that his motives in the future timeline (Ian McKellan) will be understood more fully. fox and Bryan Singer, do NOT rape this storyline for a quick buck. But I will just wait and see how DOFP turns out before I commit to an opinion!
I would go with an AOA adaptation. DOFP is the perfect lead in. Get the original cast to be alternate versions of themselves. Wolverine could be the only one who remembers the original timeline a la Bishop in the comics. How much would everyone geek out seeing Marsden back as a one eyed Cyclops, Grammar back as Dark Beast, etc.
