From pre-production to final editing, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST went through various incarnations of characters and plot points. Certain mutants were switched for others, new relationships were formed and a sequence featuring Anna Paquin’s Rogue was left out for pacing reasons. Below are just a few (but not all) of the things that were changed, filmed and removed from the early screenplay.
SPOILERS
- Jubilee was meant to appear as part of the future mutant team in a limited role. She has action pieces similar to Sunspot in the first act, though she dies in the third by being blasted off the wall.
- Before Quicksilver’s epic scene, there was Juggernaut. He’s written as an 18 year old football player, a former student of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
- Future Xavier helps his past self to look into his own mind, sharing a kind memory between himself and Raven as kids, playing in the garden.
- Iceman suggests to Professor Xavier and Magneto that they rescue Rogue from a militarized-Xavier mansion, guarded by Sentinels. Xavier believes she’s dead because he hasn’t been able to reach her mind, but Bobby believes it’s because she’s inside Cerebro, being experimented on in a location where Xavier’s mind can’t pierce.
- Storm watches after Kitty and Logan once Xavier, Magneto and Iceman leave to find Rogue. Both Storm…and especially Bishop have lots more dialogue in the screenplay, when compared to the final film.
- Mystique doesn’t want to be found, so, disguised as Charles, she breaks into Cerebro and destroys its mainframe and helmet.
- Rogue’s quick scene with Bobby at the end remains the same, though it’s questioned if she should have her white hair stripe or not.
- An older Beast and Mystique are seen teaching a Biology class in the altered future timeline.
- Kitty and Colossus are seen walking and holding hands in the altered future timeline, hinting at their relationship in the comics.
- The original end credits had Apocalypse falling out of the night’s sky and combining himself with Erik.
Things you didn’t get to see in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST (Part 2 of 2)
Most ideas are awesome.. But i still can’t move on to Rogue’s deleted scene.
The scene reads well. It’s definitely a detour, but an exciting and emotional one.
It would’ve made way more sense if the Sentinels from the future were based on Rogue’s powers instead of Mystique’s though. They were able to mimic other people’s powers, not just what they looked like.
Hope they release an extended version of the movie (not only the deleted scenes in a dvd bonus)
Yes – an extended version would be ideal. Hope they reintegrate Rogue’s sequence and add some other things.
I just don’t know how will they put the scenes were Mystique goes to the X-Mansion (I can’t imagine how this fits in the movie, if she gets her own journey after Paris).
But, there’s also another scene on the future, which I guess that was deleted..there are some takes shown on the trailers of the X-men arriving at the temple, which didn’t appear on the movie (Storm and Wolverine approaching of the door before Bishop shows up), and one picture where shows Blink behind Magneto, and he is kinda threatening her with one of Warpath’s knives.
I hope they get all of this future deleted scenes in one extended version :p Even because, Fox will have much more profit announcing an “director’s cut”, so I guess this is really possible.
There’s a behind the scenes video that shows ProfX, Magento, Wolverine and Storm arriving to the temple and Storm says that it looks abandoned like the last time they were there, and then Xavier replies that it’s not like the last time, that he can feel them.
I guess that many of the future scenes were supposed to be longer, probably cut when editing.
Also, after watching the behind the scenes video, the trailers and reading interviews, I think there was a moment when Beast, Xavier and Wolverine captured Mystique and took her to the mansion. There’s a scene in the trailer when Wolverine tells her something and she appears to be hurt, probably after Paris. The part of Mystique messes up with Cerebro could fit there, also the scene where Beast is on top of Mystique.
Hold up where’d you get this Anthony? This is amazing! Also with that scene where beast is on mystique
Haha I’m in love with the whole Mystqiue in the future timeline although was that deleted? Or didnt make the cut?
Was that the scene which reveals storms shocking thing?
Also with a young mystique in the garden, that also a plan or deleted scene?
Sorry for the questions lol..
I’m not sure which scenes were filmed unfortunately. 🙁
I didn’t see anything about a shocking revelation for Storm. Maybe she was just talking about her death scene? Not sure!
there was no action of logan
if he would’ve fought sentinels he would”ve won
cause he doesnt use any energy related to which sentinels could adapt
he’s pure physical strength and cant die
Yeah, but I don’t know if he could have survived if they’ve taken his head off like Iceman, of if he had been cut in half like Colossus. I mean, what then? Haha
Just wondering, Why they didnt rescue rogue if Iceman knows that she still alive in the first place?
Iceman said that he tried to save Rogue before but that the mansion is too heavily guarded by Sentinels.
i seen x-men: days of future past almost a week ago and i honestly have to say minus afew apects of it i was very confused by and didnt really understand, that was by-far thee best x-men ever made, the 1st 3 dont even compare anywhere near and i think 2006’s x-men 3: the last stand only ranked equally to the 1st x-men, director bryan singer really out-done himself this time and if they put out an extended version of it when comes to dvd, that would be incredibly awsum, i look very much forward to the follow-up x-men apocolypse, btw the end-credit scene where theres im guessing some mutant doin i have no clue what with a pyramid, it couldnt have been apocolypes because whoever that person was was abit thin and all those people in front bowing down, did anybody catch what they were saying?
@dustin hubbard
They were saying “En Sabah Nur”. Its the real name of Apocalypse, since hes the oldest mutant there is. Born in ancient Egypt with blue skin and getting even more powers thanks to alien tech (not sure if theyll use that in the movie). He was worshipped as a god.
Its a short version, if you want to know more, search Wiki or the Marvel website 😉
Good list, though Bryan Singer already confirmed that Apocalypse merging with Erik was just a hoax and not to believe any of the alien rumors.
Will we see any of these on deleted scenes on Blu Ray ?
