Besides being the top-grossing film in the “X-Men” series, Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST earned the title for highest-grossing movie of 2014 for two weeks with $733.5 million. “Transformers: Age of Extinction” has took its place with a $752.5 million haul. In its eighth weekend at the domestic box office, the film garnered $1.04 million from 655 theaters, bringing its total to $229 million. X-MEN: THE LAST STAND still stands as the highest-grossing X-Men film in the USA with $234 million.
Thanks to its success with both critics (92% fresh) and the general public (A Cinemascore), the mutants of future and past have given 20th Century Fox a successful Summer, along with the studios’ other big hits “Rio 2” and “Dawn of the Planet of The Apes.” DOFP succeeded Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” ($712 million) and Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ ($704 million).
