Deadline reports that X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST director, Bryan Singer is now officially on board to helm X-MEN: APOCALYPSE for 20th Century Fox! The site also includes some interesting story details, such as “the altering of time [in DOFP] has unleashed a new and uniquely powerful enemy [who will be] their most formidable foe yet: an ancient unrelenting force determined to cause an apocalypse unlike any in human history.”
Returning are stars Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast), who will be joined by new actors portraying younger versions of popular characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm and many others. Nightcrawler and even Channing Tatum as Gambit have been rumored, though nothing has been confirmed.
The film is being written by Simon Kinberg with a story by Singer, Kinberg and X2 writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
